A WELCOME
MESSAGE
FROM OUR PRESIDENT
Welcome to the Lambda Delta chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Incorporated's virtual home! Thank you for taking the time to learn about our organization, chapter and members.

On November 12, 1922 , our seven Illustrious Founders founded Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Incorporated despite de-facto segregation at Butler University in Indianapolis, Indiana. This makes us the only sorority in the National Pan-Hellenic Council founded at a predominantly white institution, in an era where racial tension was severe.

We have been serving the Athens-Clarke County since we were charted on the campus of the University of Georgia on November 13, 1988, by aligning our principles of sisterhood, scholarship and service with the university's motto,
"to teach, to serve and to inquire into the nature of things."

The Lambda Delta chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Incorporated strives to create an atmosphere to encourage all women to help each other attain high levels of scholastic achievement, while gifting each other with our unique sisterhood. We pride ourselves on respect, humility, and as our founders envisioned, service to the community.
